Inter Circle Rally, 24th June 2010

President Karol Grabowski and Tony Bukowski attended the Inter Circle Rally last night. It was at City of Nottingham 221’s venue in Ruddington, just outside Nottingham. Numbers of attendees this year were a little down on those that have gone in the past, but the atmosphere was just as convivial as ever.

It was a great opportunity to catch up with a few of the members from other Circles whom we have not seen for a while (indeed, we haven’t bumped into some of them since last year’s event in Kegworth!). As always it is a good opportunity to find out what is going on around Province. During the meeting we were asked if any of us were able to volunteer as stewards for the forthcoming Papal visit in September; they need about 500 in all and Province 6 are coordinating with Provinces that surround them to raise the numbers for the Mass in Coventry on September 19.

After the meeting we had a really nice meal (chicken in pancetta with the usual vegetable accompaniments, followed by Eton Mess) and chatted the evening away. The prizes for visiting were then awarded; sadly, Mansfield were not in the running for any of them. The final prize of the evening was awarded to Chesterfield for the largest number of attendees at the Rally, which they have won for the last few years. One wag suggested that we move the Rally to Chesterfield next year to give the rest of the Circles in Province a chance to claim it!
