Mansfield And Dukeries Golf Day 8 May 2016

The 22nd Annual Mansfield and Catenians’ Golf Day took place on 8 May at Ramsdale Park Golf Club in record high temperatures of up to 26 degrees.

Some great golf was played with fierce but friendly rivalry in both competitions.

The winner of the Guests Trophy was Steve Alcock who amassed 37 points beating Dave Allsop who had a great round (of which more later) getting 34 points.  In 3rd place was last year’s Guests Champion, Richard Dillon – son of Martin – on 28 points.

In the Catenians’ competition Bro President Peter Crowe came close with 28 points, finishing in 3rd place.  A very much improved Rob Hill fell just short in second on 30 points – his best ever performance in the competition.  However there was to be no denying Andrew O’Mara-Winson who came in as Champion with 31 points – the final hole proving crucial.

The nearest the hole [ 2 feet from the pin!]  and longest drive [280 yards!] were both won by the impressive Dave Allsop – a truly remarkable feat.
