Carol Singing at Maun View – 17 December 2016

Once again, a group of brothers and wives, led by Brother President Peter, gathered at the Maun View Residential Home in Mansfield to sing carols for the residents, but in particular to sing for Brother Roy Geeves and his wife June who are both now residents at the Home.

Although Bro Roy was not able to join us in the “snug” owing to his illness, June made it along with about 20 other residents who joined in with the carols. Accompanied by Bro Karol on guitar, the group sang 9 carols and “We wish you a merry Christmas”.

We then moved down to Bro Roy’s room and sang his favourite carol, “In the bleak midwinter”, which he used to sing as a soloist at St Philip’s Church before he became ill.

The staff of the Home kindly provided us all with hot chocolate drinks and biscuits, after which we made our farewells and departed, in the knowledge that our singing had touched a few of the residents quite deeply. We wish all of them a very happy and holy Christmas!
