Roy Geeves RIP
We received the sad news that Brother Roy Geeves passed away in his sleep on Jan 17th at the Maun View care home. He had been unwell for several days and whilst not unexpected it was still a shock to the family.
The funeral was held at St. Philip’s at 12.10 p.m, on Tuesday 6th February followed by a service at Mansfield crematorium at 1.10 p.m. Afterwards there was a buffet reception at 281 Nottingham Rd.
A retired Insurance broker, Roy had been a Catenian for 29 years and was President in 1993-94. He was an active member of the choir at St Philip Neri church for many years and was known for his beautiful solos, especially “In the Bleak Midwinter”. He was also a regular member of the Mansfield Choral Society and had been prominent at many of their concerts over the years.
Over the last few years, Roy had not enjoyed the best of health and moved into Maun View care home when it was no longer possible to look after him at home. In recent years, a group of brothers and wives have been going in to sing for him at Christmas and some of the brothers have been in to visit him occasionally.
