Neil beats the heat!
Congratulations to Brother Neil Harris who took part in last Sunday’s London Marathon. In the hottest conditions ever experienced, he completed the course and has raised over £3000 for the Emily Harris Foundation (the figures quoted on his Virgin Money Giving page are: Total plus Gift Aid: £3,186.50 with an additional £376.00 raised offline). He had hoped to raise about £1500 but generous donations, including some from Circle brothers, have given him a total that is about 178% of his expectations.
Neil began running in 2015 and has gone from the Mansfield 10k to the Nottingham Half Marathon and aimed high by submitting an application for the London Marathon this year, despite having a busy life as a Headteacher and father of three little girls.
Neil says, “I am doing this to raise money for the Emily Harris Foundation – the charity my wife and I set up in 2008 in memory of our first daughter. It is particularly significant that I should be running the London Marathon in 2018 – the year of our 10th Anniversary. I would love to enable the charity to continue the amazing work in does in supporting the families and staff on the neonatal unit at King’s Mill Hospital, Mansfield.”
Thanks to the support from all his friends and members of Circle, the unit will now continue with that amazing work.
